Police arrest area man for assaulting woman twice

Posted:
TEMPLE -

A 36-year-old Harker Heights man was arrested Tuesday after police say he assaulted and choked a woman on two separate occasions Saturday night.

Kenneth Rashon Green faces charges of assault-family violence, unlawful restraint and assault-family violence by strangulation.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment in the 1400 block of Canyon Creek Drive in Temple on August 17. According to police, officers arrived on the scene and knocked on the apartment door.

After they knocked several times, a woman finally answered the door. As the door opened, officers saw another woman lying on the floor and a man fleeing out the back door of the apartment.

Police gave chase, but were unable to catch the man. Officers interviewed the victim and she told them Green assaulted her and restrained her, which prevented her from answering the door when police arrived.

She said Green fled the scene when her sister opened the door for police. The victim reported injuries and was transported to Scott & White Hospital for evaluation.

The victim returned home after being released from the hospital and found Green at the apartment again. The victim went to the nearest pay phone to call police and Green started chasing her.

The victim was able to run back to her apartment, but Green grabbed her before she was able to get inside. Green then physically assaulted her and choked her. Green released the victim before she lost consciousness and fled the apartment.

The Bell County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case on Tuesday and issued a complaint against Green. He was arrested without incident Tuesday and taken into custody.
