Local man arrested for not completing work he was paid to do

A Temple man was arrested and charged with theft after police say he never finished construction work he was paid to do.

Gary Lee Beck was charged with theft over $1,500 but under $20,000.

According to police, Beck received payment of $4,500 on May 28 to repair a roof of the victim's home. The victim filed a report with Temple PD for theft after Beck accepted payment for the work, but never completed it or returned the money.

The case was reviewed with the Bell County District Attorney's Office on August 6 and they issued a complaint against Beck for theft.

Beck was arrested without incident on August 12 in Palestine.
