US 190 Expansion Project to Start Monday

BELL COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

Starting Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation will start a project to add capacity to US 190 from WS Young Drive in Killeen to FM 2410 in Harker Heights.

The construction project will add an inside traffic lane to both the eastbound and westbound lanes US 190. They will also add a westbound turnaround at the FM 2410 bridge. Culverts and other bridges will be upgraded and widened to accommodate the additional lanes. A concrete traffic barrier will be put in between opposing traffic lanes.

The nearly three miles project will cost $9.5 million and it set to be completed in late Summer of 2014, if the weather permits.

While the project is being completed, TxDOT says drivers should expect delays, temporary congestion and single lanes closures in the work zone, especially during the overnight hours. Drivers are also advised to observe all warning signs and use caution when passing near construction personnel and equipment in the project area.
