Drug bust leads to one arrest, more may follow

A man who was using the money he got from selling drugs to operate a lawn services business is now behind bars.

The McLennan County Sheriff's office raided the home of 32 year-old Phillip Earl Davis around 6:30 this morning. His wife and children were home at the time, including their newborn baby.

The house on the 1300 block of La Porte drive is just a block away from playground.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara says it was unfortunate his family had to witness his arrest and called it "a sad situation."

Deputies seized more than $14,000 in cash along with almost two-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and nearly 300 pills of Xanax. In all about $15,000 of illegal substances were confiscated. Agents also found seven weapons inside, some of them loaded.

McNamara says drugs, money and guns are a dangerous combination.

"This is the kind of person that we do like to get off the street. The sheriff's departments, along with the other agencies are very serious about addressing the drug problem."

Investigators say Davis had an "extensive criminal background" and now faces several felony charges.

Authorities say this is still an ongoing investigation and that more arrests could be coming.
