Man tries to run over trooper after fleeing the scene of accident
MADISON COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -
A 26-year-old man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he fled the scene of an accident and tried to run over a DPS trooper. Police say Brandon Avery Hoover of Bedias was involved in an accident Thursday night and then fled the scene.
The incident happened Thursday night at 10:15 p.m. in Madison County. A trooper was headed to an accident, and as he approached the scene, he noticed a 2005 Ford pickup that was involved in the accident was attempting to leave the scene.
The truck was heading southbound on I-45. The trooper chased the truck and tried to stop it, but Hoover then headed southbound on Highway 75.
Hoover lost control of the truck and crashed through a fence. The trooper approached the truck and told Hoover and the passengers of the truck to get out. Hoover then tried to back into the trooper.
The trooper drew his weapon and fired multiple shots, but no one in the truck was hit. Hoover and the passengers in the truck gave up and they were transported to the Madison County Jail. Hoover is facing multiple charges.
