Waco City Council passes first round of new animal ordinance

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

The Waco City Council passed the first round of a new animal ordinance making it mandatory to micro chip and spay and neuter pets.

The Waco Animal Welfare Advisory Board has been looking for ways to help manage an out of control pet population.

If the ordinance is passed, the city plans to have spaying and neutering clinics.

They will grant money to fund the clinics, so families will have a low cost option to get the procedures done.

The final vote on this ordinance will be on August 20.
