One man in critical condition after early morning shooting

Killeen police are investigating a shooting that took place just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Officers received a call that a man had been shot in the 3800 block of Hitchrock Dr. When they arrived, officers found a 20-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

According to police, the male victim and a female were walking when a black man approached them on a bicycle and demanded money from them. The victim did not hand over any money, so the suspect shot him and fled.

The suspect headed south on Hitchrock Drive on his bicycle. The suspect was wearing a red hoodie and a red bandana at the time of the shooting.

The victim was air lifted to Scott & White Memorial Hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
