Demonstrators urge Flores to act on immigration reform

Dozens of demonstrators turned up at Congressman Bill Flores' Waco office this morning. These folks had a message for the lawmaker: It's time to move forward on comprehensive immigration reform.

They commend Senators for passing their version of the immigration bill and they want the House to do the same.

Eloisa Haynes has lived in Waco for most of her life, since her family came to the United States from Mexico.  She's married to a US citizen and has her Green Card, but is longing for citizenship.

Haynes says, "I'm disappointed that Congressman Flores and Speaker Boehner are reluctant to let this bill be voted on.I feel like everyone complains about how broken our system is, but when it comes down to it, they're not doing what they're supposed to be doing - which is addressing the issue."

A representative for Flores says the Congressman has met with, and is open to meeting with groups that would like to discuss immigration reform.

He is out of town on business, but will be holding a town hall meeting in Waco in September.
