Body found by hunters in Bell County identified, being investigated as homicide

A dead body found by a group of hunters in a Bell County field on Sunday has been identified by authorities.

The body was identified as 23-year-old Angie Leigh Rogers of Killeen. She was reported missing to Killeen PD on July 27.

This case is being investigated as a homicide. Initial autopsy reports indicate that she died of a gunshot wound to the head.

Fingerprints were able to be lifted from the body and they were matched with file prints Killeen PD had for Rogers.

Police responded to a call at the intersection of Chaparral road and West Trimmier road, just south of Killeen.

A couple of hunters apparently went to check a deer feeder around 8:30 a.m. Sunday when they came upon a body. They called police and when authorities got there, deputies say it was badly decomposed and could have been there for weeks.

The body is being sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
