A man was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers after leading them on a wild car chase through Bell County this afternoon and then trying to carjack an occupied car.
Bell County DPS received a call from San Antonio around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday about a stolen car that was believed to be driving around Temple.
A man allegedly stole the car from a San Antonio lot, but a GPS beacon inside the car let police know exactly where it was.
Troopers say they eventually caught up with the suspect, but when they did, he ran away and led them on a chase along I-35.
He eventually exited around the Midway Road exit, lost control of his car and rolled over. Then he got out of the vehicle and tried to steal another car, but this one had a woman and her child in it.
Troopers say they were able to tackle the suspect and arrest him before he got in the car.
He faces charges of evading arrest and theft of a vehicle, and more could be pending.
His name hasn't been released as of this afternoon.
