Police charge Rockdale woman with murder of 2-year-old girl

ROCKDALE, TX (KXXV) -

A Rockdale foster mother has been arrested and charged with murder after a 2-year-old girl died on Wednesday.

Sherill Small was charged with murder in connection with the death of 2-year-old Alexandria Hill and Small's bond has been set at $100,000.

Police and emergency personnel were called out to a Rockdale home at 7 p.m. Monday night. They found 2-year-old Alexandria Hill unresponsive there.

They began CPR on Hill and transported her first to Richards Memorial Hospital, then she was airlifted to Scott & White Children's Hospital in Temple.

Her injuries were described as severe. Hill was taken off of life support Wednesday and pronounced dead.

The explanation Small gave for Hill's injuries did not match the nature of the injuries and her story was not consistent. Police obtained a warrant and Small remains in Milam County Jail.
