A 35-year-old former HEB employee was arrested after he stole $139,000 in Texas Lottery tickets and claimed over $30,000 in winnings from the stolen tickets.

Charles Alan Jones has been charged with theft over $100,000 and claiming a lottery prize by fraud over $10,000. He turned himself in at McLennan County Jail Thursday and bond was set at $20,000.

On Tuesday, HEB officials told the Woodway Public Safety Department that someone had stolen a large sum of Texas Lottery tickets. A criminal investigation was opened for the case by detectives of the Woodway Public Safety Department.

The investigation found that an employee of HEB Woodway had stolen $139,000 in Texas Lottery tickets. The investigation also showed that Jones had claimed over $30,000 in winnings from the stolen tickets with the Texas Lottery Commission.

Warrants were obtained for the arrest of Jones for the charges of theft and claiming a lottery ticket fraud.
