Woman arrested for stealing $30k worth of jewelry from elderly couple

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Waco Police arrested a woman Tuesday after she stole $30,000 worth of jewelry from an 84-year-old man and his wife.

Charlotte Annette Collins was charged with theft of more than $20,000 and less than $100,000 from the elderly, which is a second degree felony.

The victim is an 84-year-old man and he made a report with Waco PD on June 15. He believed that his cleaning woman had been stealing from his home in West Waco.

He discovered that some jewelry has been stolen after his wife went to put on jewelry and found it was missing. She had worn the jewelry the previous day and found several pieces missing.

A pendant worth $1,000, a $2,000 bracelet, a $8,200 pair of earrings, a $1,100 necklace, a gold coin, and another bracelet were some of the jewelry that was stolen from them.

Detectives got the case and found that over $30,000 worth of jewelry was missing from the home. Collins had pawned several pieces of jewelry and police recovered some of it from the pawn shop.
