Body found in Waco Creek in March identified

The body found in Waco Creek on March 29 has been identified as 59-year-old Francisco ("Pancho") Fidencio Reyes.

The body was badly decomposed after being in the water for so long.

A resident found the body back in March and police used a small scrap of paper found on the body to identify him. The piece of paper had a phone number on it and it led detectives to a person who was able to provide additional information about the identity of the body.

Reyes' body was initially sent to Dallas for an autopsy and DNA was collected. The DNA was then sent to the University of North Texas and compared to DNA samples from a relative.

The autopsy results did not offer any cause of death for Reyes and detectives have no reason to think there was any foul play involved with the death.
