Man arrested for Cameron Heights Apartment fire


A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the Cameron Heights Apartment fire that happened July 14.

23-year-old Cedro Riggins IV has been charged with arson and was arrested through cooperative efforts between Waco fire and Waco PD.

Authorities were investigating a fire that destroyed parts of a $6 million dollar housing development in Waco. The fire started around 2 a.m. early Sunday morning at N. 5th and Bosque.

Police say Riggins in the area and arrested him on previous warrants. Investigation done by Waco fire and Waco PD led to charges being filed for the fire at Cameron Heights on July 14.

Riggins was served the warrant Tuesday while he was in McLennan County Jail.

According to a spokesperson at Sorrells and Gunn, the development is called Cameron Heights. The first group of homes that were set to open in late August or early September were not damaged in the fire.

The four buildings that were burned were buildings still in the framing stages.

They did have insurance for the development. Investigation on this fire is still ongoing
