Police seize 3,000 grams of "spice" from local hotel

Posted:
KILLEEN -

Police seized 3,000 grams of synthetic cannabinoids, commonly known as "spice" and $3,000 in cash after conducting a search of a Killeen hotel. Police searched the Palace Inn hotel in the 6200 East Veterans Memorial Blvd. on July 2.

Richard Lefebrvre was indicted by the Federal Grand Jury for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2, with intent to deliver on July 9.

Killeen PD received information from a confidential source that managers of the Palace Inn were selling "spice" from the front desk of the Palace Inn hotel in Killeen.

An investigation was started and undercover detectives bought synthetic cannabinoids several times from the hotel.

During the search, police were able to recover 3,000 grams of "spice", which has a street value of $60,000. They also seized $3,000 in cash.

The manager of the Palace Inn was identified as 67-year-old Richard Lefebvre. A 64-year-old female was also identified, but not charged at the time.

Members of the Killeen Police Department's Organized Crime Unit and the Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a federal narcotics search warrant at the Palace Inn hotel.

The search warrant was in conjunction with a nationwide DEA operation called "Operation Synergy". This involved local, state and county agencies.

This case is still being investigated.
