Truck driver killed in Tuesday wreck identified

An 18-wheeler driver was killed in a wreck that caused an explosion on the Leon River Bridge Tuesday night.

The truck driver has been identified as 69-year-old Tracy Lee Meeks from Pampa, Texas.

The Moffat Fire Department got a call about a tractor trailer that had exploded around 8 p.m. last on Highway 36 over Lake Belton. The fire was put out in 30 minutes by Moffat fire.

The trailer was carrying a farm molasses type feed and there is no hazard from it. TxDOT and hazmat crews cleaned up the spill on the road.

An investigation is underway for the cause of the explosion.
