Major Nidal Hasan was back in court today for the last the pre-trial hearing before the start of panel selection.
The pre-trial opened with Colonel Osborn telling Hasan that he violated court orders by releasing a confidential document to a media source.
She informed Hasan if he did that again that he may lose his right to represent himself.
Hasan mentioned to Col. Osborn that he wanted to warn the panel members on why he is wearing the uniform due to medical reasons and being forced to wear it. Hasan said" I cant take pride in wearing the uniform." The government says he will be forced to still wear the uniform.
Court resumed at 2:30, with the first set of panel members that consisted of 12 colonels, five lieutenant colonels, and three majors.
Col. Osborn asked panel members if they had a problem with considering the death penalty for Hasan and they all agreed that they did not. Both sides were then were given the opportunity to ask panel members general questions but Hasan did not have any. She informed jury members that the trial would last at least a month and could take up to several months.
