Bank robbery suspect arrested after leading police on chase


A bank robbery suspect is in custody after he lead police on a chase up and down I-35 late Wednesday morning.

The man robbed Wells Fargo Bank in the 1400 block of Corsicana Highway in Hillsboro at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday morning. Police say he is a black male, weighs 200 pounds and has long hair.

Sheriffs say there the man did not display a weapon in the robbery.

After the robbery, he took off in a tan Suburban and lead officers on a chase on I-35. Witnesses were able to identify the vehicle and police found him on I-35 near exit 364. He went south on I-35 through Lacy Lakeview all the way to exit 338 and then headed back north.

The police were able to arrest the man after he pulled over in the northbound lane near exit 349, just past Tours.

The McLennan County Sheriffs Office, Hill County Sheriffs and Hillsboro Police helped in the case and the suspect is now in the custody of Hillsboro PD.

The FBI is also assisting police in the aggravate robbery case.
