Convicted sexual predator gets 99 years

WACO -

A Waco man gets 99 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl multiple times.

34 year old Joshoa Immanuel Perez was convicted Thursday of four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency with a child by contact. The punishment phase began Friday with the state calling on the victim, her mother, father, and a detective. The defense also called on Perez's girlfriend who has four children with him.

There were some horrific details shared by the victim throughout the trial coming from assaults starting when she was seven years old and Perez was 22. That's why after nearly two hours of deliberations, the jury gave Perez 99 years in prison for each count of aggravated sexual assault and 15 years for both indecency counts. Those sentences will be served at the same time.

When the judge read the jury's verdict, Perez's family cried out as he went through each count. After the reading, the victim went in front of the court and addressed Perez. She told him she's sorry for what he's going to go through. However, she says he took something away from her when she was young that she will never get back.

The McLennan County District Attorney sent a statement saying:

"Due to the strength of the courageous survivor of long term sadistic sexual abuse at the hands of this devious sexual predator, Joshua Perez will never have the opportunity to harm any more innocent children in our community or any other."

Before adjourning Perez's attorney did tell the judge they plan on appealing the decision.
