Temple woman killed after running in front of dump truck

TEMPLE, TX (KXXV) -

A 19-year-old Temple woman is dead after she was hit by a waste management truck after police say she stepped into the path of the truck who was trying to avoid her. The incident happened at around 7 a.m. Friday morning in the 22500 block of S. E. HK Dodgen Loop.

Police say that Tierra Nicole Tingle was in a vehicle with one other person, when she decided to exit the vehicle at the intersection of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. and S.E. HK Dodgen Loop. She walked west on the loop.

A waste management truck driver saw Tingle on the shoulder of the roadway while driving east bound on S.E. HK Dodgen Loop. According to the driver, Tingle looked at the truck and then stepped into lane the truck was driving.

The driver switched lanes to avoid Tingle, but she again stepped into the path of the truck. The driver swerved the vehicle to the right, but Tingle was hit after the driver said she ran back into the path of the truck for a third time.

Several witnesses tried to give first aid and give her CPR, but they were unsuccessful. Justice of the Peace Theodore Duffield pronounced her deceased and ordered an autopsy.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
