BELTON -

There was an accident early Friday morning on Interstate 35 that blocked I-35 northbound lanes for hours and has one person in critical condition. The accident happened around 3:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-35 around exit 292.

According to investigators, three people were driving in a pick up truck going north on I-35 when they lost electrical power. The driver of the truck got out to check to see what was wrong.

While the driver was checking to see what was wrong, a box truck ran into the back of the truck and the truck hit the driver who was outside of the truck.

The truck driver and two passengers of the truck along with the driver of the box truck were transported by Belton EMS to Scott & White Hospital in Temple. One person is in critical condition at this time.

According to TxDot, I-35 northbound near exit 292 was cleared around 9:30 a.m.
