Waco man arrested for assaulting pregnant wife and son

WACO -

A 26-year-old Waco man has been arrested after he hit his pregnant wife and attacked his 11-year-old son in two separate incidents. The incidents took place at their apartment in the 1300 block of Austin Ave. in Waco.

Scott Lynn Cranford was charged with aggravated assault and injury to a child after his wife reported the incidents on May 31 to police.

The incidents happened in March, but she was afraid to report it because he said, "he would really do something to her for him to go to jail" if she did.

According to police, in the first incident, Scott and his wife got into an argument in the apartment and Scott tried to punch her in the chest. His wife was pregnant at the time, so she protected her stomach with her arm and Scott hit her in the arm.

That knocked her off the couch and broke her right arm.

In another incident, Scott was hitting his wife when their 11-year-old son came to help her, but was grabbed by the throat and pinned against the wall. This hurt the boy's head and collar bone.

Scott was arrested Wednesday and put in McLennan County Jail.
