Man leads Killeen PD on high speed chase, crashes in neighborhood

Posted:
KILLEEN -

A 35-year-old man is in the Bell County Jail after he refused to stop for police and lead them on a high sped chase before crashing into a fence in a Killeen neighborhood. The crash happened in the 3400 block of Bassett Dr. in Killeen.

According to police, the man was driving a 2005 Mazda 6 in the 5500 clock of FM 2410 around 9 a.m. Thursday morning. The police tried to stop the Hispanic male, but he refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed and the police pursued.

The driver drove through neighborhoods to get to Highway 190 and exited off Trimmier Road. The driver continued to flee and made his way to the 1700 block of Grey Fox Trail where he failed to navigate a curve and the vehicle left the road and wrecked into a wooden fence.

The suspect then continued to flee on foot and was caught and taken into custody in the 3400 block of Beagle Dr.

Other officers arrived on the scene to find the vehicle on fire and the Killeen Fire Department came to put out the fire. Officers found an unknown amount of meth inside the vehicle as well.

The man was treated for non-life threatening injuries and is currently in the Bell County Jail. He is also facing federal charges.
