One woman killed in house fire


A 34-year-old woman died after being burned in a fire in her home on Sunday. The fire happened in the 2000 block on N. 21st St. around 4:30 p.m.

Yanika Nicole Davis was severely burned by the fire in her home. Waco Fire Department discovered her in the bathroom of the house.

Davis was transported to Hillcrest Hospital and later taken to Parkland in Dallas. She died around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday from burn injuries.

According to police, there are no obvious signs of foul play as of now. The case is being worked as a questionable death.

The Waco Police Department assisted and Waco Fire Investigators and the Waco P.D. Special Crimes Unit are investigating the case.
