Donations are needed to complete the Fort Hood shooting memorial
The Killeen Civic and Conference Center and Killeen Volunteers have teamed up to build a memorial for the victims of the 2009 Fort Hood Shooting.
The memorial will be build adjacent to the Killeen Civic and Conference center and will feature 13 bronzes that represent something that was special to the fallen victims.
"The families were asked what they would liked to be cast to remember their loved one, and they just talked about some things that were their favorite things," said Connie Kuehl.
The memorial was the idea of a Vietnam veteran. He reached out to the organizations after he heard about the shooting and expressed how he wanted to be able to remember the victims and their bravery.
So far, the bronzes have all been completed and the Killeen Civic and Conference Center has funded half of the memorial. They are currently seeking $200,000 in donations to help fund the rest of the memorial.
To donate, call 888-836-9877 or pick up a donation form at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.
