Man sentenced to 30 years for local murder

A 42-year-old man was sentenced to 30 years in prison late Wednesday after a jury found him guilty of the 2012 shooting death in Falls County.

The jury found Wesley Scott Murphy guilty of murder Craig Holland.

Character witnesses were called to the stand after the guilty verdict. Murphy's wife and daughter gave emotional testimony.

Deputies say Murphy broke into Holland's house last May and shot him to death. Holland was accused of harassing Murphy's wife and daughter.

After shooting Holland, Murphy drove to the Waco Police Department and turned himself in.

A grand jury indicted Murphy on capital murder charges last year.
