Waco One Step Closer For New Pet Ordinance

Waco pet owners may soon be forced to spay, neuter and microchip their pets.

The Waco Animal Welfare Advisory Board is one step closer to approving a new pet ordinance when they meet on Wednesday. The final draft will be posted on the city web site and another public meeting will be held for people to comment in the future.

The main question remains how the city will enforce a mandatory spay, neuter and microchip requirement for pets.

Waco's Assistant Manager, Wiley Stem, says everyone is supporting the new pet ordinance.

After the final public meeting, the proposed pet ordinance will be voted on by the city council.
