Head-on collision in Hill County leaves one dead and one injured

One man is dead and another is injured after a head-on collision took place around 6:15 a.m. Friday morning in Hill County. The accident happened on Highway 31, West of Mount Calm in Hill County.

Douglas Wayne Stuckly of Hubbard was killed in the accident. 28-year-old Zachary Lloyd Nichols of Tyler was airlifted to Scott & White Hospital and is in serious condition.

According to the Department of Public Safety, a vehicle was driving the wrong way on the westbound side of the divided Highway 31. It is unknown which car was driving on the wrong side of the road because the vehicles spun and there were no skid marks on the road.

37-year-old Stuckly was driving of a 2002 Chevy Blazer.

The investigation is still ongoing to determine what happened in the accident.
