WEST, Texas (AP) - A federal disaster loan outreach center in a Central Texas town devastated in an April deadly fertilizer plant explosion will close next week.

Officials with the Small Business Administration say the agency's center in West will close at 6 p.m. next Thursday.

The April 17 explosion in West left 15 people dead and about 200 hurt. About 200 homes in West were damaged or destroyed in the fiery blast.

State and federal agencies since then have approved more than $6.5 million in grants and loans for disaster recovery efforts. The SBA center currently is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

West is a town of about 2,800 located 70 miles south of Fort Worth.
