Waco company eliminates close to one hundred jobs

A Waco company is eliminating nearly one hundred jobs in the coming months.

Sterling Trust, a longtime Waco company, will be getting rid of all but a few of the 106 people working in Waco over the next few months. The employees will receive their pink slips August 1 or November 1.

The work done in the Waco office will be relocated to Westlake, Ohio, where Equity Trust will merge the functions of their Waco, Brea, and Elyria, Ohio offices.

Back in 2009, Equity Trust acquired Sterling Trust and said the office would remain in Waco.

Jeff Kelley, chief operating officer at Sterling Trust, said this decision "was truly an efficiency move". Kelley will continue to oversee a small office of employees in Waco that will have customer support and IT positions.
