Mart Principal Resigns After Testing Irregularities

Posted:
MART -

A local high school is looking for a new principal after state testing irregularities lead to an investigation and ultimately to the principals resignation.

Mart High School Principal Lou Ann Wolf was on paid administrative leave until Monday. Wolf handed in her resignation which the school board accepted.

Last month, cheating allegations surfaced at Mart High after state testing and the Texas Education Agency ordered the district to investigate.

Mart Superintendent Todd Gooden sent out a statement after the district sent its findings back to the TEA Monday.

A portion of the statement read:

"There is no indication at this time that any action will be taken against Mart High School Principal Lou Ann Wolf. ‘Ms. Wolf worked for Mart Independent School District for five years and has an exemplary record with the school system,' Superintendent Todd Gooden said. In the interest of closing this issue and moving forward Ms. Wolf has offered her resignation."

TEA wouldn't comment further on the case because it's still an ongoing investigation.

Vice President of Mart ISD School Board Gregg Graves said, he feels like "The problem has been solved and it won't happen again."

He also said the board has put in place new procedures to better control who will have access to the tests in the future.

Graves said "The state needs to come up with better procedures because the way it is now, it's just begging for someone to try to cheat."

The district is now in the process of looking for a new principal for the new school year.
