Firefighters put out vacant house fire


Waco Fire Department responded to a two-story structure fire at 1316 North 5th Street in Waco Saturday morning.

They received the call at 9:57am. When crews arrived they entered the vacant house to try and put out the heavy flames and smoke but had to evacuate when the roof started collapsing.

Five fire engines, two trucks and 24 firefighters and fire rescue battled the blaze. EMS was also on scene but no injuries were reported.

Waco Fire chief says house is total loss. The fire marshal was called to the scene after the fire was put out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
