A two year old girl is recovering after being shot in a Killeen home.
The Killeen Police Department responded to the home around 11 Friday morning and found the mother of the child performing first aid. The toddler was conscious at the time and was air lifted to the McLane Children's Hospital in Temple for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators have not released how the girl was shot, whether it was self-inflicted or if someone else shot her.
"It's under investigation, detectives are pretty much waiting until they get all their intelligence to be able to give us some information as far as making sure what happened," Killeen PD spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said.
Officers have said there three people in the home at the time of the shooting: the mother, a three year old child and the two year old girl. Police also say it's unknown if any criminal charges may be filed.
The child did go under surgery Friday afternoon and was listed in stable condition.
