Veterans One Stop Ribbon Cutting

Men and women who have served in the military now have a one-stop shop for accessing help in Waco.  Brigadier General George Brinegar cut the ribbon on the Veterans One Stop at 2220 Austin Avenue.  He emphasized to the crowd of veterans and well-wishers this is for "our" veterans, saying, "They're our people, our veterans in our community.  Nobody takes care of our home folks like us."  The center will provide space for veterans and their families to access everything from mental health treatment, job placement and educational opportunities all under one roof.

The building is owned by Heart Of Texas MHMR and will provide permanent office space for some agencies while others will use offices there at set hours once or twice a month.  The center also has lounge areas, a kitchen, small group meeting rooms and conference room.

The Veterans One Stop could become a model for other communities according to Brigadier General Brinegar who added, "This could be a showcase for our country on how we take care of our veterans."
