Crime Stoppers Tip Leads to Arrest in Store Stabbing



A suspect has now been arrested in the robbery and stabbing at the 7-11 store in the 1400 block of East Rancier early Wednesday morning.

A tipster saw the surveillance video of the incident on a television newscast and the police department's facebook page and called Crime Stoppers.  Detectives then arrested 23-year old Michael Stuart Burton of Killeen in the 1900 block of Duncan Avenue.  He's charged with Aggravated Robbery. 

Burton is in the Killeen City Jail until he can be arraigned Friday, May 24th.


Police are trying to find a male suspect who stabbed a clerk and robbed a convenience store early Wednesday morning. Officers say a man went into the 7-11 store on the 1400 block of East Rancier Ave. before 2 a.m.

Authorities say the suspect asked the clerk to assist him at the cooler. When the clerk approached him, he began assaulting and stabbing her. The suspect then ran behind the counter, and took several cartons of Newport cigarettes and fled the scene on foot.

The 49-year-old clerk received non-life-threatening stab wounds from the incident and was taken to Metroplex Hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 20s. He is between 5-foot-8 and 6-feet tall. He was last seen wearing a black beanie cap, black t-shirt with a large football helmet emblem and "DALLAS" written across the bottom of the shirt, blue jeans, and black and white tennis shoes.

Police continue to investigate the case.
