Limestone County Detention Center to remain open, saves more than 200 jobs

More than 200 people will get to keep their jobs after a new deal was reached to save the Limestone County Detention Center. Immigration Customs Enforcement has agreed fill up 500 beds in the facility starting in June.

In April, 227 employees received notice they would be out of a job after the Community Education Centers ended their contract. Now the jail will remain open and the county is scrambling to get a new operator in place by June 1.

Limestone County Judge Daniel Burkeen says he's thrilled at the prospect of filling up the jail and saving jobs.
