Hasan's Attorneys Expected to Ask For Another Delay

Attorneys for accused Ft. Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Hasan are expected to ask for another delay in the court martial proceedings at a hearing on post Thursday.

That pre-trial hearing is set to take place 10 a.m. May 9 at the Lawrence J. Williams Judicial Center here.

The trial judge, Col. Tara Osborn, is expected to hear pretrial motions for a continuance until Sept. 1, on a defense request to appoint a media analysis expert, on a defense motion to set aside the capital referral, on the production of witnesses and other preliminary matters.

Osborn may also announce rulings from matters litigated at past hearings.

Selection of a panel (the military's equivalent of a jury) remains set to begin May 29 and the trial is set to begin July 1, unless a delay is granted.
