Sinkhole repaired, city hopes to open all lanes on Wednesday

The city of Waco hopes all the lanes on University Parks Dr. will re-open on Wednesday after crews repaired a sinkhole that developed on the city street a week ago. The street department has completed the repair of the street and one lane of traffic has now re-opened.

Utilities has scheduled a CCTV contractor to inspect the recently repaired sewer pipeline on University Parks Dr.  Once the pipeline has been inspected, the remainder of the lanes will open sometime Wednesday.

The sinkhole opened up in the middle of the road on May 1. It was about five to six feet deep and had an eight foot diameter. No injuries or vehicle damage were caused by the sinkhole.

Utility crews said a sewer line failure caused the road to open up, but they did say there were no sanitary sewer overflows. The westbound lanes of University Parks Dr. were heavily damaged.
