Police believe two local robberies may be related

Police are looking for a suspect they believe is responsible for two overnight robberies.

The first robbery occurred Thursday night at 9:55 p.m. at the Family Dollar in the 1400 block of N. 34th St. Witnesses told officers that a black male had entered the store, showed a handgun and demanded money and merchandise.

The suspect fled the scene on foot and was seen headed towards New Rd. Witnesses say the suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt and green pants.

The second robbery occurred Friday morning at 5:15 a.m. at the Alon Convenience Store in the 3200 block of Hillcrest. The suspect entered the store, showed a handgun and demanded money and merchandise.

Witnesses told police the suspect was six-feet tall and had a thin build. He was wearing a dark covering over his head, gloves, a dark sweatshirt and jeans at the time of the robbery.

No injuries were reported in either robbery, and police are investigating to see if the two incidents are related. No arrests have been made.
