Waco police arrest man attempting to steal sandwich

WACO, TX (KXXV) -

Waco police have arrested a man who attempted to steal a sandwich from a local restaurant Saturday evening. The theft occurred at the Subway on the 5500 block of Bosque Blvd. at around 8:30 p.m.

Police say 20-year-old Antonio Singleton had ordered a sandwich and didn't give the cashier the proper amount of change. He still refused to give the clerk the appropriate amount of money, and started to leave the store with the sandwich.

The clerk attempted to detain the suspect, but a scuffle began and resulted in the clerk getting injured. Singleton was able to flee from the scene by foot.

Witnesses told police what direction the suspect was running. Officers were able to catch the suspect in the parking lot of the Target store nearby.

Singleton was sent to McLennan County Jail and charged with robbery.
