HOUSTON (AP) - The Houston Texans open their 2013 season in San Diego on the first Monday night of the season with 1 of 4 primetime games for the 2-time AFC South champions.

The NFL schedules were released on Thursday night while some of the Texans were attending Matt Schaub's foundation gala at a Houston hotel.

The Texans also have nationally televised games at San Francisco on Oct. 6, home against Indianapolis on Nov. 3 and at Jacksonville on Dec. 5. Houston will start on the road for just the second time in Gary Kubiak's eight seasons as head coach.

Other marquee games on Houston's schedule include visits to Baltimore on Sept. 22 and home games against New England on Dec. 1 and Denver on Dec. 22. The Texans' open date is Oct. 27.
