Local man convicted of murder sentenced to 75 years

A McLennan County jury has sentenced a Waco man to 75 years in prison for the murder of a 20-year-old in 2011.

The jury took almost seven hours to deliberate a sentence for Jermaine Lamar Jones. He was finally sentenced late Thursday morning after he was convicted of murder Wednesday afternoon by a jury.

Jones was arrested in Dallas in December of 2011 after shooting Cedric Jay Robinson in the 1000 block of Adams St. Robinson was shot multiple times and was left to die.

Prosecutors argued Robinson was shot while he slept during a robbery attempt at an apartment complex.
