5,000 gallon milk truck overturns, driver sent to hospital

A truck carrying 5,000 gallons of milk overturned on a service road Monday morning and sent the driver to a local hospital. The accident happened near the intersection of East Loop 340 and Highway 6 at around 9 a.m.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say milk began leaking from the truck and into the roadway. Troopers say the truck's 80 gallon diesel tank was also leaking too.

The driver of the truck was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. His condition is uncertain at this time.

A dog was riding in the truck with driver at the time of the accident. Animal control has taken the dog to an animal shelter while the driver is in the hospital.
