Humane Society looking for future pet owners

The Humane Society of Central Texas is urging residents to adopt a pet from their shelter.

The shelter in Waco says its cages are completely full at the moment, and with puppy and kitten season coming up, they want to make room for more dogs.

The city only allows animals to be held in the shelter for 30 days at a time, and the Humane Society wants people to consider either adopting or fostering a pet.

"If we're full and we keep more and more animals, unfortunately animals are going to have to die. The city of Waco will be doing Euthanasia with them," Adoption and Rescue Coordinator Nicole Wilson said. "But the Humane Society is putting all the effort out to get these animals out into homes as quick as we can."

Giving a foster home for an animal is free, and foster homes are allowed to keep the pet until it can be adopted.
