Three young adults are in custody after they were accused of burglarizing a home Wednesday night. The burglary occurred at an apartment in the 700 block of W. Calhoun Ave at 9:30 p.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, one of the victims told them that a black female had came to the door asking to use the telephone. When one of the residents stepped outside to allow her to use his phone, a black male approached them and showed a handgun. The suspect ordered the victim to step back into the apartment.

The victim said he ran from the armed suspect to get help. Both suspects entered the apartment, and took money and other items inside the apartment before fleeing.

As the suspects fled, one of the victims followed the suspects and provided officers with descriptions of the suspects, their vehicle and location. The victim said the male suspect sat on the window of the vehicle and pointed a gun at the victim as he was following them.

The victim eventually lost the suspected vehicle, but was able to obtain a partial license plate for law enforcement.

Officers found the suspected vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2400 block of S. 13th Street. Officers then went to the registered owner's apartment and found the three suspects.

19-year-old Devonte Tyrell Taplin, 20-year-old Laydine Kinsasha McNeil and 19-year-old Andrea Denise Acosta are in custody in connection to the incident.

Two of the suspects were identified by the victims as being the male and female that entered the apartment. Officers later learned that the third suspect was operating the vehicle at the time of the offense.

All three subjects were taken to the Bell County Jail, and officers were able to find the property taken during the robbery.
