Autopsy results revealed in John Beasley murder trial

BELTON -

The medical examiners who conducted autopsies on the deceased victims James Carl Broland and Tamojeane Kehaulani Tambakis were cross examined on the witness stand today.

Autopsy results revealed Broland had traces of cocaine in his system, and Tambakis was not under the influence.

The other victim, Brandon Lawrence, who was injured in the accident admitted to attending a barbecue prior to going to Action Pawn, where he had been smoking and drinking.

The mentor and second father of Broland also took the stand. He said the group asked to use his car because Broland was in the process of moving and wanted to get rid of some of his things. Broland's mentor denied the group access to using the car, but they took the car anyway.

Police say Beasley was at the pawn store trying to pawn an item. Him and the store owner had a dispute about the amount of money Beasley wanted for an item. The store owner then called police due to suspicious activity. Beasley and friends left the store when police recognized him in a tan Chevrolet Tahoe. Police attempted to pull over Beasley and his friends, but Beasley took off.

The police chase ended when Beasley hit a curb on College St. near Veteran's Memorial and went airborne. The vehicle then hit a pole and a tree, and flipped over.

Broland and Tambakis were pronounced dead at the scene, and Lawrence suffered from brain injuries.
