Milam County skeletal remains identified

MILAM COUNTY, TX (KXXV) -

Forensic investigators have identified a partial skeleton found in a wooded area along U.S. Highway 77 north of Cameron. The remains have been identified as 26-year-old Miguel Regalado-Jaramillo from Mexico.

Milam County Sheriff's Office was notified about a human skull that was found while a man picked up trash along the highway in January 2011. Authorities looked through the wooded area where the skull was found for more than 12 hours.

The remains were sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office, and a cause of death could not be determined.

DPS lab personnel were able to find a possible name on a badly damaged Mexican identification card in a pair of jeans recovered at the scene. Authorities found the family members of the deceased in Mexico, and DNA tests were performed in order to confirm the identity of Jaramillo.

Arrangements were made for the family to recover the remains.
