Trial begins for local man who killed two people in a high speed chase

Posted:
BELTON -

John Beasley Jr. pleaded not guilty to murder.

The prosecution argues that they can prove Beasley is guilty of the murder of two individuals. They say they have video of Beasley starting at Action Pawn on Fort Hood St in Killeen, and ending long after he took off on foot after his vehicle hit a utlity pole, killing two people.

The defense argues that the deceased victims tried to stab Beasley and thats why he took off.

Two witnesses took the stand including the officer who pursued Beasley and the director of Action Pawn. Both witnesses contested that Beasley seemed to be under the influence.

Tomorrow the prosecution will present the video of the high speed chase and accident where Beasley struck a utility pole.
