Mississippi man wanted for murder caught in Killeen

A 20-year-old man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a high school student in Mississippi has been arrested in Killeen. Devontae Montgomery was one of five suspects being sought in connection with the March 15th shooting death of 17-year-old Ke'Marvin Stamps.

The arrest was made Tuesday at noon by members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Authorities say they found Montgomery at his mother's home in the 1200 block of Attas Ave.

Montgomery is the fifth teen charged with murder in the Vicksburg, Mississippi shooting. The four others charged with murder are: 15-year-old Marquis Black, 19-year-old De'Mario Mixon, 19-year-old Christopher Jones and 18-year-old Melvin Wiggins Jr.

Authorities say Stamps and another teen were walking in the 4900 block of Gibson Road when Stamps exchanged words with several men in a truck. As the truck drove away, a shot fired from the vehicle hit Stamps in the head.

Stamps died at 3:55 p.m. March 16 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
